9th House in Vedic Astrology

Dharma bhava

Bhava 9, Dharma, the trine of luck and religion, places the father sometimes here and sometimes in the 10th.

Where is the father, in the 9th or the 10th? The question arises as soon as you approach bhava 9. You can place the father in bhava 10, or split it: the person of the father in the 9th, his status and the ceremonies owed to him in the 10th. The 9th is also called Guru, father or preceptor, and you can place the father there. You examine it at the ninth sign counting from the Lagna or from Surya.

This house bears the name Dharma, rightness. It gathers good fortune, religion, pilgrimages, as well as two allies of the family. Add good deeds, the spiritual guide, journeys. Guru signifies it for good fortune and religion.

It is a trine, in tandem with bhava 5. Its lord is considered the most benefic of all, on a par with that of the 10th. Judging by its position, it would be cadent, but it leaves that category precisely because it is a trine.

A meeting that comes at just the right moment, a teacher who leaves a mark on you: that is the atmosphere of this house.

The axis of the 9th house

Contradicting while taking the lead: that is what is gathered for Rahu in the ninth house, bhava 9. Its speech runs against the current, and it ends up as head of a group, a clan or a village, at least in words. Hear in this a talent for rallying people, not a guaranteed rank. Another reading adds renown and repugnance toward the father.

Ketu, the Moon's second node, then settles in the third house, bhava 3, and receives a happy portrait: vigor and reputation, good understanding with the spouse, good food as well.

Reputation appears on both sides, by pure coincidence: Rahu and then Ketu are studied house by house, separately. Rahu has the manners of Saturn, Ketu those of Mars.
