5th House in Vedic Astrology
Bhava 5, a trine with the 9th, brings together children and intelligence, study and authority.
Putra, children, announces a first name. Pratibha, intelligence, announces a second. Bhava 5 unites both names and both themes. To these you add study and knowledge, mantras and the power exercised over others.
It is a trine, one of the most favorable kinds of houses, which it forms with bhava 9. These two houses are linked in particular with prosperity, and the lord of a trine is benefic by nature, the lord of the 9th even more than that of the 5th. Guru signifies it for offspring, and the fifth sign from Guru is read in the same way.
Where do you put the past? Bhava 5 can carry earlier actions, what you bring with you. Bhava 8 can carry things that are over and things yet to come. Two possible readings, to be received as such.
To find your bearings, think of what you pass on to others and what you absorb quickly: a lesson told to a little one, a poem learned by heart.
The axis of the 5th house
A dry heart or a compassionate one? About Rahu in the fifth house, bhava 5, this placement can give two opposite faces. The first is harshness. The second is compassion, mixed with a fearful temperament. It is up to you to see which one resembles you.
For Ketu, placed opposite it in the eleventh house, bhava 11, also called the next to last house, the picture is much clearer. Ketu gains many qualities there and the art of obtaining what is lacking. Add valor and a contented mind, as well as a kindness toward others that earns their esteem, and a pleasure taken in charitable acts. One nuance only: it can be a bon vivant or moderate in its pleasures.
The lunar nodes are read separately, and a house delivers its full effect when the graha occupies its middle.
