6th House in Vedic Astrology
Bhava 6, Ari, is a difficult house of the trika yet also a house of growth: enemies, maternal uncle, and the reversed rule for benefics.
Nobody likes the name of bhava 6, which is sometimes called Ari, the enemies, and sometimes Kshata, the wound. It belongs to the trika, the three hard houses, with the 8th and 12th. It holds everything that irritates you, and also the maternal uncle and relatives on that side. Debts can be placed here, or in bhava 10.
But here is the twist: the 6th is also an upachaya house, so a house of growth. The effort it contains gains reach with the years. It is cadent, away from the angles. Mangala signifies it for enemies, and the sixth sign from Budha is read as well.
An old rule is turned upside down here. In general, benefics favor a house and malefics restrict it. In houses 6, 8 and 12 it is the opposite, so a benefic in the 6th weakens your adversaries. The lord of the 6th also counts in the unfavorable group of lords.
Think of the colleague who opposes you at every meeting: they push you to take better care of your files.
The axis of the 6th house
Bothered by adversaries or filled with happiness: Rahu in the sixth house, bhava 6, has no single color. One reading mentions the worries opponents create for you. Another announces great happiness, perhaps with adversaries you end up defeating.
Ketu, placed opposite in the twelfth house, bhava 12, is described as acting discreetly and wasting money on trinkets, a bit like the purchase you hide from everyone and regret. Another reading speaks of instability. A few judgments on conduct complete the picture, but they are set aside.
The nodes are read one after the other.
